Theresa F. Wassenberg, 86, died Sunday,March 28, 2004, at her home.

A service will be at 11a.m. Thursday, April 1, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The Rev. John Cordes and Rev. Bill Bruning will officiate. Burial will be in St. Gregory’s Cemetery.

Musicians were Mark Nagely, Jacob Nagely, Jane Sedlacek and Kimberly Duensing. The songs were “I am the Bread of Life,” “You are Mine,” “On Eagles Wings,” ”In the Garden” and “Hosea.”

Pallbearers were Anthony Wassenberg III, James Baker, Bart Thoreson, Aaron Baker, Phillip Schmitz, Eric Wassenberg and Kirk Duensing.
Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Parker, Richard Wassenberg, Anthony Baker, Chris Duensing, Nick Baker, Mitchell McCrave and Matthew McCrave.

Theresa Wassenberg was born April 18, 1917, in rural Marysville, the daughter of Joseph and Frieda Schulte Luebcke. Her mother died when she was very young and she was raised by her grandparents, Henry and Theresa Schulte. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Church, the Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, Women of the Moose, American Legion Auxillary and Club 30.

She married Anthony “Tony” Wassenberg Jan. 14, 1942, at St. Gregory’s Church. He preceded her in death June 10, 1978.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Anthony “Tony Bill” Wassenberg; her parents; brothers, Henry Luebcke, Al Luebcke, Pete Luebcke, Lawrence Luebcke and Leo Luebcke; and one granddaughter, Mary Christian Baker.

Survivors include eight daughters, Carol Parker, Marysville, Theresa “Rikke” Wassenberg, Storrs, Conn., Anna Bear, North Pole, Alaska, Barbara Baker, Marysville, Janelle Thoreson, Soldier, Iowa, Zita Duensing, Blue Rapids, Marcia Wassenberg, Overland Park, and Phyllis Schmitz, Marysville; one son, Leon Wassenberg, Marysville; 26 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
