Darrell J. Wassenberg, geboren am 19 Nov 1947, starb am 1. August 2004 im Alter von sechsundsiebzig Jahren im Heim Cambridge Place, Marysville.

A service was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Marysville. A wake service was at 6:30 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The Rev. Gary Pennings and the Rev. Joel Barber officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bob Welch was organist and the church choir sang “Here I Am Lord,” “Amazing Grace” and “Prayer of St. Francis.” Pallbearers were grandsons Scott Davis, Joshua Davis, Jason Davis, Joe Wassenberg and Lynn Wassenberg.

Darrell J. Wassenberg was born Nov. 19, 1947, at Marysville, the son of Joseph and Mary Olberding Wassenberg. On Nov. 25, 1927, he married Delores Rutti at the St. Gregory’s Church.

He went to work for Martin Tractor in 1954 and was a field mechanic for 31 years. He worked for the Marshall County Road and Bridge Department and as a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lester, Lawrence and Gilbert.

Survivors include his wife, Delores of the home; three sons, Dr. Dave Wassenberg, Midland, Texas, Dr. Phil Wassenberg, Wetmore, and Jay Wassenberg; Grayslake, Ill.; one daughter, Kathleen Davis, San Antonio; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established and may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, which is in charge.
