Visitation was Thursday, July 5, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 6 at Kinsley Mortuary. Father Arul Carasala officiated. Music included “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “When I’m Gone.” The pallbearers were Rick Urbanek, Alex Wassenberg, Billy Wassenberg, John Wassenberg, Allen Wassenberg and Josh Zimmerling. Burial followed in St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery in Marysville.

Leota R Wassenberg was born July 6, 1939 at Blue Rapids, Kan., daughter of John Earl Gose and Thelma Ruth (Sample) Gose. She attended school in Frankfort, Kan.

On May 9, 1957, she married William H. Wassenberg at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2015.

Leota worked doing housekeeping and laundry for several business in Marysville. She enjoyed her family, bowling, fishing and going on trips to Colorado with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Alvin Gose; and grandson, Andy Wassenberg.

Survivors include her children, Bill (Mary) Wassenberg, Barb (Greg) Zimmerling, Phil (Chris) Wassenberg, Matt Wassenberg, and Curtis (Jamie) Wassenberg, all of Marysville; siblings, Louise Herring, Jack Gose, Betty Zimmerman, Donald Gose, David Gose and Jerry Gose; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
